Kerswell Tiptop

January 1st 2009  Tiptop was successfully weaned from her colt foal in the autumn and he is now back with the herd.  She has been scanned in foal to my buckskin stallion Roo and is due in May. She already has a big belly despite the fact that the foal looked no bigger than a guinea pig on the scan.  She and I have had to have quite a chat as to where her secret supply of buns are!  She is looking extemely well in her winter woollies, if a little low slung.

Tiptop was bred by Jane Dennis in Devon and was born in  May  2000.                                           Her sire was Kerswell Tempest & her dam was Kerswell Tinkerbelle.                                                She was bought by Carina Lewis as a foal and went on to have a highly successful show career with her and her business partner Mo O'Sullivan.  Tiptop is registered with the British Spotted Pony Society, BMHS & IMHPS.

We were lucky enough to be allowed to buy her when she was 3 1/2 years old and scanned in foal to American bred Rabbit Runs Illusion de Azul. She was duly safely delivered of a very pretty filly foal - Mainestar Misty Blue - now living in Ireland.

The following year & with a lot of hard work and excercise she got her figure back and went back on the show circuit. She had a lot of success in 2005, qualifying and winning the mares class at the RIHS Hickstead. Winning at the New Forest Show and at the BMHS breed show.

Her winning run continued in 2006 culminating in becoming the National Champion British Spotted Pony up to 14.2hands, all this and she is less than 31" tall!

Tiptop is the most stunning little lady. Loving and affectionate. She thrives on attention and is much admired.  We know we are very lucky to have her.

We had a hideous year in 2007 while my husband fought bowel cancer and I was able to do only a few shows. Tiptop was put in foal to my stallion - Seahorse Gold Melody Grand Buckeroo. She has been scanned and is pregnant, so we are awaiting her new baby - due in April - with great excitement.

On April 21st, less than 2 hours after Santa Fe gave birth to her filly foal, Tiptop also produced a beautiful little dark coloured colt foal.  It was an easy birth and both she and her foal are doing very well.  She is the most wonderful little mother and guards her baby like an equine rotweiller!

2 days old and enjoying being out in the fields in the sunshine.

 Tired now!

Tiptop is a very proud Mum. She is a wonderfully caring mare and babysits Shadow's half sister on a regular basis. They are often seen to be suckling off her, one on each side, while Magic's mother has wandered off elsewhere.
