Rafferty

Rafferty is my husband's 17.3hh Grey Irish Sport's horse.  He came to join our family in the Spring of 2003.

Michael had waited our entire married life in the Armed Forces to have a horse again.

We moved to Ringwood to look after my mother who had had a stroke and so finally we had the space and facilities for him to have a horse.  Less than a week after we had decided to look for a horse for him I found Rafferty for sale in the local paper.

He filled all of Michael's criteria

Hunting with Michael's brother, Jamie on board. 2006.

He passed his vetting and came to live with us.  He had been a hunt horse in Ireland and had had several lady owners after he came to England.

Rafferty is not a lady's ride. He is big and strong with an Irish sense of humour and needs a strong and competent rider - Michael.

He was in very poor condition when he first arrived here, and it took a lot of good grass, feed and forage to get his weight up. He and Michael bonded immediately and are incredibly close.

No matter how tuff things are you can guarantee that Rafferty will have Michael laughing in a matter of minutes. He goes through your pockets, undoes your zips & velcro - he is just about as nosey as they come.

Rafferty & I giving my great niece Phillippa James a ride.

Rafferty is a very sweet natured horse, he is game for anything. and very tolerant of the mini mares attention.

     Lazy bones in his bed!
